Head
Instructor Troy Walzak
Instructor
Troy Walzak first began training in the Chung Moo Style of martial
arts in 1977 at the age of 15 under Forrest Troutner as well as
other high-ranking instructors. He earned his first-degree black
belt in 1983. In 1986, Instructor Troy was tested for his 2nd
degree black belt by the founder John C. Kim. Instructor Troy
was then promoted to instructor.
In 1987, Instructor Troy's training became more rigorous and intense.
He was one of the select few chose to be trained directly by John
Kim in Texas. This training was 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
The only time off was Saturday evenings and Sunday mornings. "Vacation"
trips to the ocean or the mountains were for additional training
and learning.
In 1989, John Kim moved to California. Instructor Troy was the
only instructor below 5th degree black belt at the time to accompany
Master Kim to California and continue his training.
In 1996, Instructor Troy was promoted to 5th degree black belt,
earning the position of Regional Head Instructor. He also received
the highly coveted silver document, which means he was personally
trained and certified by Master John Kim. Instructor Troy brings
with him an extensive and in-depth knowledge of many different
styles of martial arts. Having trained with an original master
will benefit all of his students infinitely.
Instructor
Matthew Coe
Instructor
Matthew Coe begain training in the Chung Moo style martial arts
in 1992 under Head Instructor John Neilson. In just four years,
Instructor Matthew catapulted himself to 2nd degree black belt
and was promoted to the level of instructor. All the while Instructor
Matt was training in Chung Moo, he was also attending college
at San Diego State University. The same year he received his 2nd
degree, Instructor Matt graduated from SDSU with a B.S. in Biology,
with an emphasis in Biochemistry. Instructor Matt's formal education
only enhances his teaching abilities - a true advantage to all
who study with him.
In 1998, Head
Instructor Troy and Instructor Matthew founded 5 Element Martial
Arts. Together they teach the philosophy of the 5-Element training
combined with 8 martial arts for health to form a hybrid system
of martial arts. Instructor Troy and Instructor Matt have assimilated
their extensive knowledge to create s synergistic system of martial
arts for the joy and advancement of all the study with them.
