"Hung
Family"
5-Animals / Tiger-Crane
|
Description :
Strong, quick, and practical is the essence of Tiger-Crane. Every
movement has at least two or three self defense applications, or
more accurate fighting techniques. Defense and attack are simultaneous
in each movement, with emphasis on crushing and breaking the opponent's
defense or attack.. "Hung Family" Tiger-Crane develops a strong
lower body, iron hard blocks, powerful low kicks and sweeps, and
numbing hand attacks using punches, chops, spear hands, forearms,
elbows, and shoulders. "Hung" translates to mean "stand and tall
strong with integrity."
History :
Hung Family (Hung Gar) Kung Fu originates from the city of Fukien,
in southern China, where a Shaolin monk, "Master Gee See", taught
the Shaolin Tiger style to a tea merchant, Hung Hei Goon. The Tiger
style is a very effective hard style martial art that builds and
uses strong legs and arms to physically over power an opponent.
Master Hung then combined his Tiger style with his wife's family's
White Crane style, which is a softer style using speed and evasive
maneuvers to defeat a stronger opponent. This created a good balance,
hard and soft, direct and evasive. Master Hung, always looking to
improve, added elements from the Leopard, Snake, and Dragon styles.
The leopard uses cunning, lighting fast multiple attacks, grabs
and breaks. The snake uses pin point accuracy to vital areas, coming
from the ground up. The Dragon uses creativity to off balance the
opponent.
Benefits
:
Tiger Crane uses hard Chi Kung to faster develop internal and external
strength. It builds strong flexible legs and hips, developing a
strong center of gravity, which enables one to attack and defend
from a position of strength, and makes it difficult to be thrown
off balance. This is an Earth element style that concentrates on
muscle strength and your "root" to the Earth.
